Welcome
Welcome to our school
Our school mission statement centres on our aim of ensuring that ‘everyone at St John of Beverley School is part of God’s family. We share, play and learn together and try to be the best we can be.’ This is lived out every day, by every member of the school family. It is our duty and indeed our privilege to ensure that every person (child or adult) who comes into our school is given the opportunity and the encouragement to fulfil their potential in every possible way. We love to share in the talents our school members have already and to give them the chance to discover new ones, whether these be academic, sporting, musical or artistic. As a smaller than average school, every child is known and highly regarded as a vital member of the organisation.
‘We care, share, learn and respect in every way possible. It’s like we are one big family’

Systems set up in school to ensure that this happens include the ‘Buddy’ system and our School Houses, but this could not be achieved without having every member of staff on board as role models for children. It is clear to all who enter that we live and breathe our values in order to make a difference. Every parent who comes to look around our school comments on the welcoming atmosphere we have created, and the fact that everyone within our community knows and cares for each other
St John of Beverley School is a real ‘hidden gem’. Because of its location and the beautiful school grounds, surrounded by evergreen hedges, it is very easy to miss as it is nestled into its surroundings. However, once you set foot inside our gates, you will experience what one prospective parent described as ‘an oasis’, an atmosphere which we strive to maintain.
In 2020, St John of Beverley Primary was the top rated primary school in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Our SATS results from 2019 place us in the top 1% for attainment in the country (137 / 20626) with top rankings for ‘attainment for all’ and ‘progress’.
Our children are provided with a range of opportunities to develop existing skills and indeed to learn new ones. An example of our dedication to this is the fact that our school earned the Platinum level School Games Mark in 2019-2021, a level that can only be achieved by ensuring the highest commitment to sport at all levels throughout the school.
As global citizens, our school family shows care and concern for those in need in our immediate locality and around the world. We show this by supporting charities and organisations in Beverley (such as the Foodbank) and around the world (CAFOD) Our Eco Flag award demonstrates our commitment to looking after our environment and educating our young people to be good citizens of God’s world.
